The Land in Transition: Map of My Kingdom tours in Indiana
Map of My Kingdom, a one-woman play by award-winning writer Mary Swander, will be performed in Winamac, Rensselaer and Wabash, Indiana January 31 and February 1, 2026.
Map of My Kingdom spotlights the emotional and financial challenges families face during farmland transition. In 2014, Swander, an author with a national and international reputation, was commissioned to write the play by Practical Farmers of Iowa. The play has toured from coast to coast, from the Federal Reserve Bank in Chicago to New York University, from Mayo Clinic to Clackamas Community College near Portland, Oregon.
Actor Erika Kuhn will be featured in the shows in Indiana.
Two opportunities are available Saturday, January 31 at “Land Legacy Summit: Real Stories. Real Decisions” — 11am EST in Winamac and 4pm CST/ 5pm EST in Rensselaer. After the performance of Map of My Kingdom, guests will enjoy a catered meal before having an opportunity to ask questions of a panel of local experts on farmland and succession planning. Special guests will be Avery Walker, Murray Law and the author of “American Family Farmland,” Johnny Klemme.
The Winamac event will be held at Knights of Columbus, and the Rensselaer event will be held at Highland Barn at Pumpkin Vine Trail.
Alliance Bank Indiana, the Community Foundation of Pulaski County and the Jasper Newton Foundation are sponsoring the events in Winamac and Rensselaer. Registration is $15 per person, meal included. Register by January 23 by emailing together@myalliancebank.com or online HERE.

On Sunday, February 1, Map of My Kingdom will be performed at the Eagles Theatre at Honeywell Arts and Entertainment, 275 West Market Street, Wabash. The performance begins at 6:30pm, EST, and will be followed by a Q & A with Howard Halderman, president of Halderman Real Estate and Farm Management.
